Let's get artsy!
The Art Department at Ducketts Lane Elementary is dynamic, engaging, and fun! The creative process is an important component as students experience artistic processes and make connections to our world. Through investigation, process, innovation, invention, revision and investigation, students gain personal ownership and meaning in their art work while having fun. Our elementary art program at DLES aspires to introduce students to be engaged through art disciplines such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics.
Students will respond to art problems by interacting with tools, materials, processes, and techniques. Personal ideas will be investigated as students investigate master artists, cultures, and art movements. Working from observation, imagination, experimentation, and memory students will create personal artworks and make connections in our world. Student artwork is presented in ways, such as written reflection, thoughtful presentations, and exhibitions. Through these experiences, students are developing an understanding of art appreciation, gaining personal confidence and a passion for art making. As we introduce students to the world of art, we encourage students embrace art as a life long practice.
